In the first developmental stage of my composition I decided to use fragments of the original theme to accompany my main motif.
I decided to have the violin 1 playing the full ostinato repeated with the intention of shifting the melody to some of the other voices later in the piece. Keeping with fragments of the main theme and not modulating meant that any pitch clashes were averted. In the violin 2 I decided to use the first beat of the phrase combined with a retrograde of the same beat with a tie connecting the two D’s to create a small syncopated figure.

I have the intention of developing this section further and I look forward to seeing where my compositional process of utilising my own baby steps takes me.
