Developing the Unit (7): Collating the Unit and Reflecting

We are nearing the end.

Today I completed collating my resources and have begun putting everything together. Something interesting which I have noticed which I sort of understand now that I am past it but definitely didn’t think would happen prior to it was that now that I have completed the creation and development of many units of work throughout my degree along with the creation of numerous resources I now find it a lot easier to think of activities and especially sequence activities from one lesson to another.

This unit is by far the largest and most in depth one I have created however it just felt like clock work. At not one point during the development of these resources and this unit did I stress or not know what to do and I guess I owe that to my lecturers. Of course my background in composition assists me in developing scored resources and arrangements however even other activities seem almost obvious now. It’s sort of like a chain reaction ‘Oh I just started with this starter activity and I’m going to move into this exercise next which will then be followed by this activity’ and I’m really happy with not just the units and resources which I have developed but also with my own cognitive development as an educator.

I look forward to getting out there in the real world and educating students in the wide world of music. I have attached some pictures of the iBook below and 1 of my lesson plans. I will be posting more updates and sample resources in the near future. If you want any of the resources in full please get in touch with me.
